About the candidate

Richard "Tick" Segerblom is a fourth-generation Nevada legislator, born in Boulder City. He graduated from Pomona College and the University of Denver Law School and practices law with a focus on employee–employer relations, earning the ACLU's Civil Libertarian of the Year award in 1992 and the Nevada AFL-CIO's 'Friend to Nevada's Working Families Award' in 2006. Segerblom served in the Nevada Assembly from 2006 to 2012 and the Nevada Senate from 2012 to 2018. He authored the state's 2013 medical marijuana dispensary bill and co-chaired the 2016 recreational marijuana ballot initiative, becoming known as 'the godfather of pot in Nevada.' First elected to the Clark County Commission representing District E in 2018, Segerblom served as chairman of the Board of County Commissioners from January 2024 to January 2026 and is seeking a third and final term in 2026. He describes his politics as 'a liberal Democrat in the mold of Senator Bernie Sanders' and served as Nevada state co-chair of Sanders's 2020 presidential campaign. He lives in Las Vegas with his wife Sharon; they have three adult children.
